How to overcome suicidal thoughts

Suicidal thoughts begin when a person is in more pain than they know how to cope with. Living in constant emotional pain is terrible and wearisome, and they begin to think that dying would be less awful than continuing to suffer. However, this few tips could help you get over this feelings.

Call a trusted friend or loved one.

Sometimes just talking to a good listener can help you cope and be enough to calm your thoughts.

Get rid of anything that you could use to harm yourself,

Things like pills, razors, sharp objects, or guns.

Say good stuffs to yourself.

This can help you cope with the pain you’re feeling. Say things like:
“My depression is talking, not me,” “I will get through this,” “I’m just having thoughts right now – they can’t make me do anything,” “There are other ways to handle my feelings”.

Distract yourself.

Think about what has worked in the past, and write it down. This will give you reasons not to commit suicide.

Avoid being alone.

If you are feeling suicidal, you should make sure that friends and family do not let you out of their sight.

Stop taking alcohol.

If you’re drinking or doing any drugs right now, stop and give your mind a break. Adding these chemicals to your body actually just makes it a lot harder to think clearly, which you need to be able to do to cope with suicidal thoughts.
